Can I dry a 100% polyester garment on high heat?

I have the extreme misfortune of dealing with a bed bug problem right now (thanks, Cincinnati). I caught it early so my apartment isn't crawling with them, but I'm laundering all my clothes and sealing them away in ziplocs (in addition to hiring an exterminator). My problem is this: I graduate from grad school on Friday, and my 100% polyester graduation gown is in my bedroom closet. Chances are with this low of an infestation, there's nothing wrong with the robes, but I don't want to risk bringing my little "friends" with me anywhere. The Jostens people told me I couldn't dry clean the garment or put it in the dryer. However, I've heard that some delicate fabrics will actually survive a trip in the dryer if they are already dry when you put them in. Does anyone know if polyester will hold up under such circumstances? You have to heat garments to 120 degrees F for a minimum of 20 minutes to kill any bugs or eggs, but I'd like to not ruin my ridiculously overpriced (yet so very ugly) master's robes. I appreciate any insight you may have.
